HEREFORD bowed out of
Luctonians' Radbourne Cup at the semi-final stage after a dominant display
by the Bishop's Castle front five at Mortimer Park.
Hereford's centre pairing of Leino Marafono and Ben Stevens, with good support from fly-half Jeremy Grisman, threatened in the early stages before Castle took the lead with a penalty in front of the posts. Lyndon Day missed a penalty as Hereford pressed but the Shropshire side pulled further away with a converted try to lead 10-0. On the half-hour, however, Andy Spratling fed the ball to Marafono and he passed to Stevens who beat three players to cross for a fine solo effort. Grisman added the conversion. But Castle extended their advantage just before the break with an unconverted try and held on to their lead through a scoreless second half. |
