Old Laurentians 22-22 Hereford

Bilton, 2 November 2002

Winning chance missed

A LATE fight-back from Old Laurentians 2nd salvaged a 22-22 draw against visiting Hereford 2nd in a friendly fixture.

Hereford opened up a 22-12 advantage with only seven minutes left. But the home side pulled level before - on the stroke of full-time - the visitors were awarded a penalty 10 metres out.

Hereford chose to run with the ball - after the referee mistakenly told captain Bob Stewart that his side were trailing 25-19 - and the chance was missed.

Hereford's score came from a try by Gareth Griffiths and five penalties and a conversion from Lyndon Day.
