Hereford turned the tables in impressive style
at the weekend as they thrash Bedworth 80-0 in the Midlands Three West
(South) league.
The result was a boost to coach John Watkins, whose side had lost to Bedworth earlier in the season. Bedworth boast very strong forwards but Hereford’s front five bettered them, allowing their superior movement and back play to take over the game. “It was incredible – an onslaught. There was no single man of the match, we had 15 of them,” said John Watkins, coaching co-ordinator for Hereford. The game saw hat tricks by two Hereford players, with Des White and captain Jeremy Grisman both scoring three tries each. Other impressive performances were produced by Colin Osborne, who scored twice and kicked nine conversions and prop Ben Hillstead, who touched down twice to add 10 more points to the tally. Mike Griffiths and Tim Harvey also scored a try apiece to complete the most emphatic of victories. Hereford do not have a cup game this Saturday, but are hoping to arrange a friendly. They do however have a big home game a week on Saturday, when they will entertain fourth-placed Stratford. |
