Facing a strong wind, the Wyesiders fell behind after five minutes when the home side kicked a penalty. Hereford were then awarded a penalty in their own 22 but an offence by Pritchard saw him yellow-carded and the penalty reversed, allowing the home side to extend their lead by a further three points. Then to inflict further punishment, Bedworth exploited the gap where Pritchard would have been to race in for the game's first - unconverted - try. On Pritchard's return, Hereford seemed to be regrouping but a late challenge by Reece saw him carded and during his absence Bedworth added a further 10 points.

After the break, Hereford swiftly reduced arrears when Des White crossed for a try under the posts and Colin Osborne added the conversion. But sloppy play handed Bedworth another penalty before an excellent forward's try from Andy Johnson cut the margin once again. Osborne was successful with the conversion.

Bedworth added another penalty in the closing stages to confirm their victory and leave Hereford languishing in a clutch of five clubs without a point at the foot of the table.
