HEREFORD enjoyed plenty of the possession
against leaders Barkers Butts in the Midlands 3 West (South) but they failed
to turn it into points.
In contrast, their Coventry visitors, who have a 100 per cent record from four matches, were much more decisive in their finishing, scoring two tries, both of which were converted, and a penalty. The Wyesiders had the better of the first-half play and created a few promising openings but were unable to capitalise on them. A minute from half-time Butts broke through the home defence to touch down and landed the conversion. Soon after the restart the visitors added three more points from a penalty but Hereford quickly responded when Gary Preece put the ball between the posts from a penalty. Two 17-year-olds, winger Adam Knipe and flanker Luke Clifford, gave promising performances for Hereford who were still in the game until the closing stages when a converted try sealed victory for Butts. |
